What personal data do we collect from you?

We collect personal data that you provide to us in connection with our scientific or professional relationship, or via your use of our websites, e.g. by filling out a contact form, registering for an event, subscribing to our newsletter or marketing/corporate publications, or requesting information.

Whatever channel is used to collect your personal data – electronic when subscribing to our newsletter, when using the contact form or when registering for an event etc., or through B2B or a personal contact from someone inside our organization – CSEM processes your data in accordance with the European and Swiss regulations on data protection.

How long is your data retained?

Your data will be retained as long as necessary to maintain our scientific or professional relationship, unless you object to the use of your information or until you withdraw your consent for future processing, for example until you unsubscribe from our communications or delete the account you created to have access to our recruitment platform.

For which purposes do we process your personal data?

We care about your privacy and do not collect more data than is necessary. We process information and personal data relating to you, as part of our professional contact, based on our legitimate interest in managing our existing or prospective scientific or professional relationship, or based on your consent when you voluntarily provide us with your personal data with the intention of receiving specific information:

  • If you are an existing scientific or professional relationship, we may send you marketing information (publications and communications) using your name, workplace, and postal or e-mail address. You can update your preferences or unsubscribe at any time on reception of our newsletter or any of our information campaigns.
  • If you fill out our contact form (or send an e-mail to info@csem.ch) providing your name, e-mail-address, telephone number, workplace, professional role, preferences, etc., we use your data to answer your questions, send you information or perform other tasks you request.
  • If you subscribe to receive our marketing information (like our newsletter, press releases) by providing us your name, e-mail-address, and other professional details, then we use this data to send you our marketing information.
  • If you register for an event by providing us with your name, e-mail-address, and other professional details, then we use this data to send you all communications related to this specific event, and administer your participation in such event.
  • If you use our eRecruiting service, you agree that the data you provide to us voluntarily is stored and processed in accordance with the specific privacy notice dedicated to our eRecruiting services information [eRecruiting Privacy Notice].

Your data are hosted in Switzerland, on CSEM’s servers. We provide access to our data to our IT/IS subcontractors, Uditis SA and Saphir Consulting Sàrl, both located in Switzerland. Unless stated otherwise below, your personal information will not be shared with any other organization – commercial or otherwise. Please refer to the conditions for subscription to our publications and communication information or for registration for an event.

Your rights

In compliance with Swiss law and EU regulations concerning privacy protection, you have the following rights concerning the processing of your personal data:

  • Right to rectification: Ask for your information to be updated or corrected.
  • Right to be forgotten: Request that your personal data be permanently deleted.

Personal data of children

CSEM does not knowingly collect information from children. If CSEM learns that a child has provided it with personal data, it will use reasonable efforts to remove such information from its files.

We may provide links to non-CSEM websites that we believe may be of interest to you. This Online Privacy Policy applies only to the CSEM sites, and not to websites owned by third parties. We cannot guarantee the privacy standards of such websites or assume any responsibility for their content.

Collection and processing of personal data based on your consent

By contacting us or using our online services, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old.

Information collected during registration or submission is protected using industry-standard encryption technology (https) as it is sent over the Internet.

When you send a message via our contact form, your personal data (name, phone number and email address, company and position) is collected with your consent, but only to the extent necessary to reply to you. If the management team of the mailbox is unable to answer your question, it will forward your e-mail to another CSEM service. Any personal data collected at this stage is for internal use only and will not be shared with third parties. The information you have provided will be retained for 3 years from the disclosure date.

Registration to our events

When registering for an event, your personal data (e.g., name, mailing address, e-mail, phone number, company and position) is collected, processed, and/or stored by us based on your consent in accordance with the provisions of EU and Swiss data privacy laws.

You understand and agree that, for some events, we may use external service providers located in Switzerland or the EU to host and process your data for the management of the respective event. CSEM may also share registrant information with third parties co-organizers in association with the event – in such case these co-organizers are clearly mentioned on the dedicated web page.

Consent to receive CSEM publications and communications
